Finished Cardinal Pillow

Wow!  Thanks for the input.  I loved hearing your thoughts.  And without them, I never would have gone in the direction I did.  This is what I ended up with:



I continued the branch down and toward the right so I could use white on the three sides of the left half (or third?).  It's not perfect but I think it still works.   Hope Mom likes it!

  1. Ahh I love it! It looks like he's perching right on the tree. I love it. Now you have the best of both worlds, and I LOVE it as a pillow! I hope your mom likes it too.

    Rebecca, i should have noted earlier...the fabric is by Joel Dewberry called Woodgrain. I'm sure i'll use it again.

  8. I LOVE this!!!! I have a pet (not really) cardinal that comes to stay every winter! He and his mate even nested in my Crepe Myrtle this past spring. Fantastic!!!!

  11. That is just beautiful! My mother was a master quilter who died several years ago and she loved cardinals, especially at Christmas time. I love how you have used the woodgrain fabric, it really adds dimension to the piece. You have inspired me to try a paper pieced cardinal of my own.
