Wow! Thanks for the input. I loved hearing your thoughts. And without them, I never would have gone in the direction I did. This is what I ended up with:
I continued the branch down and toward the right so I could use white on the three sides of the left half (or third?). It's not perfect but I think it still works. Hope Mom likes it!

Ahh I love it! It looks like he's perching right on the tree. I love it. Now you have the best of both worlds, and I LOVE it as a pillow! I hope your mom likes it too.
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet. He looks so cute perched on his little branch.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT TOO! I had no worthy opinion on the matter, but I enjoyed reading everyone else's ideas. And, of course, the final product is a perfect solution. :)
ReplyDeleteHow could she *not* love it???
ReplyDelete(note to self: must get wood grain fabric)
That is amazing. You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, i should have noted earlier...the fabric is by Joel Dewberry called Woodgrain. I'm sure i'll use it again.

I LOVE this!!!! I have a pet (not really) cardinal that comes to stay every winter! He and his mate even nested in my Crepe Myrtle this past spring. Fantastic!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? Mom is going to LOVE it! That is just too cute! :o)
ReplyDeleteThat pillow is beautiful. What a brilliant way to use the wood grain print, and the cardinal is wonderful. Great work!!
ReplyDeleteI just bought that fabric from the Aviary line and now you've opened up my world of possibilities...great work!!
WOW! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is just beautiful! My mother was a master quilter who died several years ago and she loved cardinals, especially at Christmas time. I love how you have used the woodgrain fabric, it really adds dimension to the piece. You have inspired me to try a paper pieced cardinal of my own.
ReplyDeleteAs the recipient of this lovely gift...may I say I just LOVE the pillow!!! It will have an honored place in my home for a long time to come. Thank you to my wonderful and creative daughter, and to all her friends who weighed in with their encouragement and suggestions!
ReplyDeleteMay you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
I know this is an old post but OMG it's gorgeous. Love it. Really, thanks for sharing. I may have to copy this...
