Spice Jar Favors

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Our Life Group learned of a couple who for a long time thought they couldn't afford a wedding.  So we decided to give them one.  I took over the favors-because that's what I like to do:  take over things and make stuff.  :)

The bride works for Saltgrass Steakhouse here in Dallas.
The wedding will also be catered by Saltgrass, so I figured their steak seasoning would make a perfectly fine favor.
What do you think?  Think the bride will agree?

I ordered the labels here and the bottles here.
The seasoning I got right from Saltgrass, where it truly pays to know people.

Sunday's the big day!  What are your weekend plans?

Oh I love these! Such a personal touch too. I went to a wedding last Saturday and the favors were little jars of home made jam with tiny stamped labels which stated 'Spread the Love'! They were stacked inside a bird cage next to sparklers in jam jars for the guests to create a 'sparkling exit' for the bride and groom. The wedding had a vintage theme and you should have seen the reception tables. Mismatched floral and pastel vintage china plates, tea dyed calico runners, wildflowers in vases and glass bottles, even little stacks of old books down the centre of each table. It was so creative - a real hand made wedding.
Hope you enjoy the wedding you are attending. I know the guests are going to so appreciate those spice jars and the work that went into putting them together.

That is so sweet of you to do this for the couple! And such a practical idea to give spice jars as favors. Thinking along the same lines, your readers may find this idea interesting: http://www.bellenza.com/wedding-ideas/diy-projects/turn-aluminum-cans-into-a-unique-wedding-bouquet.html
